“Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” – Lucille Ball
If you have read the last couple of blog posts than you will know that I’ve had a rather emotional week, the kind of emotional week that Adele could get to number one with! Feeling utterly exhausted and drained I decided some self care was in order and a very early night was just what the doctor ordered. Isn’t it strange that as children we try every trick in the book to just stay up an extra ten minutes, fast forward to adulthood and we would do anything for a early night or at least a cheeky afternoon nap.
And what better way to self care than a super long hot bubble bath with all my favourite products before climbing into bed ( while it’s still light outside ) with my new book and my favourite truffles before falling into the deepest 12 hour sleep that I have ever had. Now I am definitely a bath girl even in the hottest of weather I will still have a bath, to me a bath is a occasion it relaxes you after a long day, helps you sleep or just unleashes your inner mermaid.
Now making the perfect bath isn’t just a case of running the water, there is a art to it! Firstly you need to set the mood, I like to light no less then eight candles and have classical music playing ( at the moment I am loving the pride and prejudice soundtrack in the bath ). You need to place all your favourite beauty products within reaching distance, that’s face mask, shower creme and body scrub ( I absolutely love cafe de bain at the moment, it makes me smell like cake, which is the best thing to smell like ). Now lastly running the bath I always add three products starting with a bath bomb ( as I wanted to use a lavender oil ) I went for a lavender bath bomb, followed by a Zoellas bath latte because I just like bubbles, lots and lots of bubbles. Finally I added some buff and butter natural oil in lavender, perfect for relaxing me and making me super sleepy, I suffer with eczema so I try and use as many natural products as possible because they keep my skin nice a hydrated. I’m a big fan of aromatherapy as I’ve gotten older and started really looking after my health I’m pro nature and pro anything that isn’t saturated with chemicals.
After my bath I covered myself in my favourite body butter ( coconut butter from The body shop, it has been my favourite for the last 15 years ). I put on my oldest, most comfortable pyjamas and climbed into bed where I ate all the truffles and read about four pages before I was fast asleep, now personally I think I sleep like a Angel with my hair making a golden halo, however these are not the words Jamie would use to describe me. In fact he used the words eight armed snakes with a pigs snore ( I know right! I don’t believe it either ).
