“If someone loves a flower of which just one example exists among all the millions and millions of stars, that’s enough to make him happy when he looks at the stars. ” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince, 1943, translated from French by Richard Howard.
Part two of all the wonderful little things that made me ridiculously happy in August. You can take a peek at part one here , and remember it only takes one tiny little thing or a special little moment every single day to change your whole world.
A cinema trip with my brother is possibly my favourite part of my weekends, I’m such a fan of movies and the whole cinema experience, plus I get to spend time with my brother. Movies are something we are both extremely passionate about so there is always a lot of exciting chat after each film, plus there is always popcorn and ice cream involved.
While I have been unable to exercise over the last few weeks I have really missed my weekly yoga classes. I find yoga so incredibly relaxing but equally very hard ( I’m as flexible as a brick ) I also sleep so much better after a good yoga session. And a couple of weeks ago now I managed to do a couple of sessions which made me so happy and helped my sleep pattern which had been a bit all over the place. A well rested Emma is a very happy Emma.
I’m pretty sure I spend far too much money on my nails but I just love having them done and after my cake addiction I don’t really spend a lot of money on myself ( well that’s how I try to justify it ). It feels like a little treat to myself once a fortnight and gives me a full two hours being phone free. The last couple of times I’ve been there, there have been so many wonderful women which meant lots of giggling, smudges of nails and tuts as the polish has to be reapplied.
One of the loveliest ladies at work woke up super early to bake 36 butterfly cakes to make work that day a little happier and sweeter. Bringing cake to work is already so sweet but getting up at 5am to bake them so they were super fresh is just the loveliest act of kindness. They were absolutely delicious and you could definitely tell they were made with love.
I have a terrible, terrible confusion during August I have watched a ridiculous amount of Christmas videos on YouTube including Zoellas vlogmas and its got me more than a little excited for Christmas. When it comes to vloggers Zoella and Alfie are my favourite, seriously I am like a 12 year old girl.
Dave loves jumping up to the sky to catch the rain but that leaves you with one very wet puppy who never shakes himself off until he’s trapped you in a corner for maximum soaking. He loves doing it, leaving me and the kitchen dipping wet, but he pulls the funniest of faces while he’s doing it which leaves me in a wet mess laughing on the floor.
Not only am I seriously excited for Christmas but I’m just as excited for Halloween, I absolutely love all things creepy and the build up to Halloween ( yes our house has a build up to Halloween ). I have been planning some Halloween inspired blog posts which I can’t wait to share with you.
I spent the day at a local soft play area with my friend and her two children and had the most fun, there is so many things I want to do but without a child with me, I would look more than a little strange so having friends with kids is a perfect situation. Now I was pretending to chase the kids around but really I just wanted to go down the slides.
Ice cream, enough said!! Makes you happy from the inside out!
I finally got back into my normal gym routine which almost killed me but at the same time left me feeling like my normal self and full of energy. Plus I got the chance to catch up on all the gym gossip and see lots of people I was missing while I was sick.
With being back in the gym I needed to make sure I was eating properly again. When I eat good I feel good which makes me happy and healthy.
I have never watched a full session of the great British bake off before but have been waiting like a good girl for this session start. And it was everything I had hoped for, I’m looking forward to watching the whole series plus I eat cake while I’m watching it.
It’s getting to that time of year when every morning looks like a beautiful painting. And I saw the first of them at the end of the month which made me excited for the darker days and pretty sunrises and sunsets, what a magical time of year.
Over the bank holiday weekend me and my family celebrated my brother and sisters birthdays which was absolutely wonderful and gave me some time with my sister whom I don’t get to see as much as I would like. We laughed so much and spent the whole time chatting and catching up while wearing funny masks and hats.
I went bowling for the first time in three years mainly because I never thought I would be able to do it with my nails but my brother wanted a night of bowling for his birthday so I gave it ago and it turns out I can still bowl just fine. The night was amazing, we bowled, drunk blue slush puppies and played air hockey, I truly felt like a kid again and we have promised each other that we will do it again very soon.
Jamie stayed home to celebrate with my family which was so lovely, he is so busy at the moment and I know he gave up a lot to stay home but never mentioned it once he just enjoyed time with my family which left me feeling even more loved than normal. He really is there when I need him and is the most supportive person I could have asked for in my life.
