If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his/her happiness on major events like a great job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time.
If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.”
I’m so a firm believer in finding happiness in everyday life, in a world were we are always waiting for the weekend, summer, holidays or some miracle that will apparently make all our problems disappear. We should stop and look for smaller joys, those little moments in the everyday life that make us stop, smile or even giggle. Here is a little happiness from each day through the first half of July.
There is one day a month that I wait for like a little girl and that is the day when my chocolate baby monthly box comes. I had a sneak peak at Julys box so got it a lot earlier than I normally would and now I am just sitting here waiting and waiting for August to arrive so I can get my next fix.
One thing I really want to do more of is raise money for charity, so this month I did my first charity event which was a midnight walk for St Luke’s hospice. I am so lucky and blessed to have the life I have and think it’s about time I shared some of that luck. The midnight walk was an amazing experience and something I am already looking forward to next year.
Me and Lisa finished the 13 mile walk just as the sun began to rise, already feeling amazing after completing the walk, watching the sun rise so beautifully was definitely the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae.
I have been wanting to try a freak shake forever! Well at least since my instagram feed become full of these delicious looking shakes. I live in a small town where nothing fun ever happens so when I heard there was a little place near by selling these mega glasses filled with creamy heaven I jumped straight in my car and drunk them til I felt sick.
My Tanya bakes, baking book arrived and within 10 minutes I was making her chocolate chip shortbread. Baking is absolutely happiness, nothing is more satisfying than eating warm baked goods you made yourself and if you are anything like me, eating them all up so there is no evidence that they ever existed.
July women’s institute meeting was a night a pimms, pudding and so much laughing that I thought I would wee myself. It’s such a joy to met new women and try new experiences with them. I absolutely love being part of such a wonderful, strong and empowering organization.
My grandads garden holds so many amazing childhood memories for me, every minute I spend here fills me with such a warm happy feeling . I spent so many happy hours playing in his garden, it is definitely a safe place for me to relax.
Me and Jamie have had a lot more time together than usual and I love it, we have started looking at wedding venus which is extremely exciting. My best friend always and the person that pushes me out of my comfort zone and into wonderful new experiences.
Having a lie in is such a rarity for me that when I do have one Jamie automatically thinks I’m sick, it’s rare I ever want one and to me a lie in is waking up at 7am instead of 5am. But it’s still amazing to have some extra sleep and wake up with a extra big stretch.
Receiving my little box makes me happy, it’s like a gift to myself every month and I do like a little treat now and again.
Having my childhood dreams come true at Chester zoo, the zoo has the most wonderful dinosaur exhibition/collection I have ever seen. I ran around like I was six years old again, screaming with absolute delight every time I saw one, there might have even been a little dance.
Getting my butt back into the gym and finding my motivation again has been a massive positive in my life, I’m not ashamed to say that I enjoy my life regimented and part of that is sticking to my fitness routine and living a well balanced life. If I don’t do some kind of physical activity daily I feel awful the same goes with eating healthy too, balance is definitely the key to my happy life.
