Goodbye winter!

Today is officially the last day of winter before the spring equinox and personally it couldn’t have come quick enough. I absolutely love the start of winter but three months in I’m fed up of the cold and dark and not to mention the bare nature. Spring is my second favourite month after Autumn, I’m so much looking forward to seeing nature wake up, trees blooming, baby animals appearing and lighter evenings.  Now if you read my blog you will know im ridiculously happy and incredibly thankful for every little thing that puts a smile on my face. So I thought I would share some of my winter highlights.

This winter has been so incredibly mild, there seems to have been this new weird season where the Autumn leaves have stayed on the trees at the same time as the early signs of spring coming through like hundreds of daffodils, I shall call it auting or spritumn ( catchy I know ). Usually the second winter arrives I stay indoors only leaving once the clocks go forward. However this year I have spent the winter exploring the great outdoors, although I still think winter is the ugliest month.

I have spent the last three months working on my summer body which is going to take at least the whole of spring too. I am looking forward to the warmer weather and hopefully working out outdoors, I love the gym but I’m excited about mixing up a bit.

I have avoided that awful winter comfort food stage, just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that every meal should be carb based or stew. I have eaten hundreds of salads over the winter and I’ve not felt cold or hungry. I have fallen in love with fish and trying lots of new veggies, although I’m pretty sure I have avocado running through my veins.

Me and Jamie have gone from strength to strength, I absolutely love and adore this man. Winter is the month in which we get to spend the most time together. We have shared our first Christmas, Valentine’s day and new year this winter making brilliant memories and laughing through it all. He is my number one fan and is always pushing me to be the best I can be and making me feel amazing. I am an extremely lucky girl and not a day goes by that I am not thankful that I’m engaged to my best friend.

In January our beautiful boy Dave turned four, he is no longer a puppy although he will always be my puppy. Dave is definitely a massive part of our family and goes nearly everywhere with me. Look at that face tho!!! It’s pretty safe to say Dave hates winter too and won’t go for a walk if it’s raining in fact if you open the door and it’s raining he gives you a look of disgust and goes and hides.

At the start of winter I joined the National trust and I can’t believe I’ve never done it before. I go to a different national trust site every week its just a wonderfully cheap day out and every site is so interesting. More importantly there is always some sort of fabulous cake. I’m very much looking forward to the warmer months and having picnics on the lawns of some of the country’s grandest houses.

Beautiful winter skies.

Our cute little fluffy girls are getting bigger and are already eight months old.

Sweet treats!!! I have the sweetest tooth ever and could never imagine denying myself cake or chocolate.

We celebrated our first Christmas together which was truly magical, I could never have dreamed of such a wonderful Christmas and New year. We started our own little traditions and I was involved with Jamies families traditions. If I’m really honest I’m already excited for Christmas this year.

My papa bear got me and Jamie zoo memberships for Christmas which has been the best present, whenever we have a day free together we head to the zoo for a day of giggles and ice cream. The zoo is now our special happy place.

What have been your happy moments during Winter?
