Little Moreton hall

WP_20151103_9481Still making the most of this beautiful Autumn sunshine Britain is experiencing, and always happy to spend a couple of free hours exploring somewhere new I jumped in my car and headed into the countryside. Armed with the national trust app I’ve just downloaded, and absolutely love it, it’s tells you what national trust sites you are near and what’s on there, very useful if you have a couple of free hours or are in a new area.

WP_20151103_3576Little Moreton hall is a stunningly beautiful tudor manor house with over 500 years of history. Lucky for me I arrived at just the right time with the stunning low Autumn light giving the house a beautiful golden halo. As I was admiring the house bathed in the golden light the friendliest member of staff I have ever encountered informed me that a free guided tour was about to begin.

WP_20151103_5096The older I’ve become the more interested I have become in history, so I couldn’t resist sneaking to the back of the group.

WP_20151103_1093There was actors dressed in costumes of the time, performing chores they would have done 500 years ago. The tour was really very sweet, my guide was extremely informative and more than willing to answer all the questions which were thrown at him. It was clear to see that everybody that worked there was passionate about the building and its history.

WP_20151103_7504WP_20151103_4549The building itself was extremely beautiful with some stunning detail, clearly very loved and well looked after.

WP_20151103_9909Once the tour had finished I went back through the building at my own pace enjoying the atmosphere and taking in the smaller details I had missed while walking around in a group.

WP_20151103_2091WP_20151103_2329There was some beautiful details inside as well, look how pretty this ceiling is!

WP_20151103_8896Not wanting to miss the sun setting I headed back outside to soak up some of those golden rays.

WP_20151103_1088Although I couldn’t spend a whole day there, believe me in the summer I will be packing up a picnic and trying to. It was a wonderful way to spend a couple of free hours in a peaceful setting.

WP_20151103_3155Do you have any favourite national trust sites you like to visit, I’ve just become a member and would love to hear where you love to visit.

WP_20151103_3331Off home for a nice glass of wine now!
